Removing and Installing of turbine rotor of TC

Tools Required
  1. Protection sleeve
  2. Bracket
  3. Hexagonal nut
  4. Clamp sleeve
  5. Rope with shackle
  6. Open-end wrench
Starting Position
Silencer or air intake casing, compressor casing and gas admission casing are removed. Impeller taken off and complete locating bearing removed.

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION
Removing
  1. Fit the protection sleeves and secure clamping sleeve in rotor shaft at turbine end.
  2. Attached bracket with hexagonal nuts to bearing casing on compressor end (bracket serves as a guide).
  3. Push rotor hand towards plain bearing far enough to permit ropes to be applied for supporting it.
  4. Extract turbine rotor without skewing it to prevent bearing damage.
Note: In withdrawing rotor, make sure that it is kept balanced; it is good practice to fit a length of pipe over the clamping sleeve to prevent it from tripping.
