Removing and Installing Thrust Ring -MAN B&W NA 57 TC

Tools Required

1. Protection sleeve
2. Bracket
3. Hexagonal nut
4. Threaded rod
5. Assembling ring
6. Open end wrench

Starting Position

Either silencer or air intake casing and compressor casing are removed or only the air intake socket, spacer ring and insert. Impeller removed and locating bearing extracted.

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION

Removing

1. Slip protection sleeve onto rotor shaft to protect shaft and thrust ring bore.
2. Screw assembling ring onto thrust ring.
3. Screw threaded rods into assembling ring.
4. Fasten bracket with two hexagonal nuts on bearing casing and screw two hexagonal nuts onto threaded rods.
5. Extract thrust ring from turbine rotor by tightening the nuts evenly.

Installing

1. Screw assembling ring onto thrust ring.
2. Screw threaded rods into assembly ring.
3. Screw protection sleeve onto rotor shaft and slide assembly ring with thrust ring over shaft. Attach bracket to bearing casing with hexagonal nuts, unless it has been left in place (bracket holds rotor in central position).
4. Push thrust ring into its end position while turning it in such a way that it will engage the arrest or the shaft and the balance marks in the thrust ring and the rotor shaft are in alignment.
5. Remove bracket and assembling ring.
