Cylinder Liner-MAN B&W Engine |
The cylinder liner is made of alloyed cast iron and is suspended in the cylinder frame with a low situated flange. The top of the cylinder liner is fitted with a cooling jacket. The cylinder liner has scavenge ports, drilled holes for cylinder lubrication and is prepared for installation of temperature sensors, if required.
The most important properties of cylinder liner are
- High anti-galling properties
- Less wear on the cylinder liner itself
- Less wear on the partner piston ring
- Less consumption of lubricant
- Should transfer maximum heat to the coolant
- Inner surface should be such that with piston rings it makes gas tight surface
